Another Finished Object!
Another finished object - can you believe it? Having a blog is a great way to incentivise yourself to get something completed. Not necessarily on time, but completed nonetheless.
This project started out as a piece of my mothers birthday present back in January. Her birthday came and went and this went to the back of the WIP pile. Then mothers day came along and with further incentive to get this done I continued anew - so here it is completed and with instructions for anyone wishing to give it a go.
MATERIALS REQUIRED Yarns: Rowan Handknit Cotton - Shade 313 Slick, Q:1, 50g ball
Patons Coral DK - Shade 1011 Ripple Q: 1, 50g ball (or just use any DK weight yarn in your stash or leftovers from other projects)
Knitting Needles: 3.75mm
Dried Lavendar Flowers or similar for fragrant pouch contents
Small square of fine mesh fabric
Wooden Hanger
Sewing Needles Abbreviations: K = Knit P=Purl Inc= Increase K2 tog = knit two stitches together (as one) Hanger Cover. ( knit 2 pieces alike) Cast on 5sts - using a strand from each ball of yarn you are working with - (this creates a double thickness and as you are using a small needle size for this thickness it will create a strong close knit finished piece) Row 1 - Knit 1, Purl 1, Knit 1, Purl 1, Knit 1 Row 2 - K1, Increase 1, P1,K1,P1,Inc 1, K1 Row 3 - P1,K1,P1,K1,P1,K1,P1 Repeat Row 3 (Moss Stitch) until length measures the same as the length of the hanger you wish to cover. You then need to knit a few more rows as follows to allow you to sew the item together neatly. 2nd last Row: Knit 2 stitches together, P1,K1,P1,K2tog. Last Row: K1,P1,K1,P1,K1 Cast Off. Hanger Hook (Used to wind around curved steel piece of hangar) Cast on 40 sts. Knit one row. Cast Off. To make up - sew two hangar covers to wooden part of hanger. Wind knitted hanger hook around curved steel piece of hangar and sew into place. Your hanger should look like this.
Lavendar Pouch.
Cast on 20sts using just the Patons Coral. (As we want the fragrance of the lavendar to come through we need just one strand of yarn for pouch.)
Row 1 - K1,P1,K1,P1,K4 - repeat this stitch pattern to the end of row.
Row 2 - P1,K1,P1,K1, P4 - repeat this stitch pattern to the end of row.
Repeat these two rows 24 times more. 50 rows worked in total.
Cast Off. Lightly Press.

Sew up 3 sides of knitted lavendar pouch cover and insert mesh fabric with lavendar buds. Sew up final side - lavendar pouch is now completed. We are nearly there!
Hook for Lavendar Pouch.
Cast on 80 sts. Work moss stitch for 3 rows. Cast Off.
Sew to lavendar pouch as below.

And now you are done!
