A bargain

As promised a progress pic of the Cleckheaton Country Silk Cardie. I finished off the 1st sleeve yesterday. So just one more sleeve and the yoke to go. Only problem is that I don't have the circular needle I need to do the yoke. I've tried searching for Addi Turbos online from New Zealand stockists but no joy. An Australian website wanted to charge me $15 for delivery! So, I'm hoping I can pick up the circular I need when I am in Australia later this month. I've started a little something for the new arrival and it's currently drying so I'll post a pic of that tomorrow. I've been doing a little stash enhancement of late. So as not to shock I'll just introduce the piles gradually - here's exhibit no.1 hiding amongst the ferns in our NZ garden. 9 balls of Hummingbird 100% wool in different hues of orange. Well, it was on special offer in the yarn shop - just $2.95 per 50g ball - in total it came in at about €14 Euro for 450g!!!! So, how could I refuse. It's destined to be this. I've a few other projects I want to start before that one though.

Cardi looks really great. You really seem to be having a great time 'down under'. Hope you have a good time when you get to Australia. Must say your blog is great and I am enjoying the read.

You're going great guns with that cardie!
I also wanted to let you know that I don't fancy your chances of finding Addi turbos in stock at any knitting shops in the places you're going in Australia. (Though there might be someplace in Brisbane that I don't know of?) The only places I have found Addis for sale in a bricks-and-mortar establishment are in Melbourne and it doesn't look like you're going to be there long enough to hit the knitting shops! I'm in Sydney, so if you can get a better deal on postage within Australia, I'm happy to give you my address and drop off the needles to you when you're in town. I usually order my addi's from Janette at www.styk.com.au, she's just outside of Sydney; I haven't done a great deal of comparison shopping but her prices seem reasonable to me! Just drop me a line on daysfull AT iprimus DOT com DOT au if you like!
