The Streets

I've started yet another project - this time to accompany me on my holidays to Australia. I bought the yarn in Devonport, Auckland when we first arrived in NZ. The pattern Lombard Street socks can be found here. I'm loving the pattern so far, so much so I had to put it away or I would have been in danger of having a sock knitted before my travels. I'm hoping I can carry this in my hand luggage - wish me luck! I had no problem bringing my Jaywalkers on bamboo dpns through Dublin Airport security, Amsterdam Airport Security and Hong Kong Airport Security. Tomorrow is my chance to try the kiwis out! I'm sure I've just jinked myself now. I have put a thread in should the worst happen although I'm not quite sure how I'll surrender the needles should it become necessary. The sock is resting on my holiday books, books I couldn't get in the library. Bye for now.

Oh thats interesting about you bringing your dpns through Dublin, I was hoping that I can do the same as I have a work visit to London next month. hmm. Now that sock pattern looks good too, I wa going to cast on another sock for myself, but then decided (serious moment of madness) to do a pair for M for Valentines day...without his knowledge. WHAT was I thinking!
Hope to hear from you soon once you reach the other side...

This will probably be too late but the Aussies are pretty unenlightened about taking knitting needles on the plane! Hope you didn't have to surrender the needles!
I'm sure you'll have stacks of fun anyway, especially with those books at your side!

Really cute. I'm really happy you got through with the needles. May try that when I go to Wales in March. Have an amazing time in Austrailia.
